I live with peace and still can't make it

and I'm still just a kid
because I never would have done

so many things within my life
what an interesting scene
what a beautiful sight
so many things within my heart

she said, 'Thank you for this opportunity, I think this will be good for me, '
and she left them to comment and stare
'Hey sweetie, you've been looking thin, '
'Don't call me sweetie, and I know I have been, '

I saw it in your eyes
and I think you meant it

you might not ever look at me that way again
...

there is a new kind of pride in me
it makes me feel like crying
out of sadness or joy, I can't be sure
but I found out that there's no cure
...

I guess you really heard me that time
when you asked if I was alright
I guess you could see it in my eyes
the cold and the fear of a starless night
...

sometimes I feel your hand on my shoulder
but I'll never feel your hand on my face
it was an ordinary room on an ordinary night
but there was a dreamlike quality to the place
...

call me when you get this
even if it's late
I'll breathe to let you know I'm still there
even if I'm in an unconscious state
...

I finally closed the blinds
so that my wandering eyes
wouldn't find the neighbors' joyful Christmas lights
