James Long II Poems

Flecks of sunlight
Scattered across the dancing surface of a stream
her laughter wove through the trees, keeping time with ancient melodies
Warm, against his cool mind
...

For the sky has ever loved the earth
This is why the moon is always by her side
Pulling on her seas to hold her closer
Scattered stars set glittering for her delight
...

Ever further, to me she bade
Into a land I'd never made
Where they spoke in words I could not see
And soon the path was lost to me
...

Am I an explosion?
a fiery contortion of energy and chaos and awe?
Or am I an emotion,
ephemeral and gossamer alighting from the hand of a god?
...

I've got a fugitive mindset
No time to rest, no time to mind
Cause I've got dogs on my heels and they won't stop in this life
Faster still, as the years drag on and I won't be able to outrun them long
...

He briefly reflect on how,
hovering at the edge
He'd never felt more vibrant in his life.
Without a second thought he wrapped his fist round the wire
...

You told the oceans to calm
you told my spirit to move
And in the labyrinth of thoughts where I had wandered so long
Knew I belonged to you
...

Hey friend,

I'm writing cause I fear the silence when you're not around
I've had some time to try this lifetime out but I'm not made for solid ground
...

I walked upon the desert, darkly

A doleful beat on hard packed sand
...

Cause she was

All my stories of home and the songs I sing
Of sorrow, love, war, winter, spring
...

Oh my soul I have returned
And brushed the dust from off my boots
To weary, rest, in waters cool
And sing to you of love
...

Drunken faerie, swaying steps
How can I tell just how much
it strains my heart
So full to burst
...

She walks in beauty like the night
I hate that line
Because its true
And its not mine
...

Was it wake or current pushed me hence?
Or eschaton that pulled?
What depths have stirred beneath my sight?
What star has future told?
...

That space between, betwixt, behind
what's animal and what belies
to leave behind, cut and rend
the ties that bind to journey's end
...

18.

Who you are is not enough.
At least the pieces that you gift.
Another mask, another mirror
another wall against the risk
...

I made a link with the rations
gave tenant fees and made deals with my passions.
Kept a chain on the greed and the hatred.
Patience, doubled down when I paid blood
...

Give me rain, give me envy, give me excess, just not rest.
Give me passion, give me failure, give me struggle give me test

Light a bomb in my forlorn heart
...

The Best Poem Of James Long II

The Meadow

Flecks of sunlight
Scattered across the dancing surface of a stream
her laughter wove through the trees, keeping time with ancient melodies
Warm, against his cool mind
He was drawn, closer
still
Turns the sky
A single Breath
