Do Not Bid Goodnight

Do not bid goodnight to me, fair maid
For night without your arms no rest shall be
My visions of you dancing never fade
And in the morn, ‘tis you I’ll wish to see

Oh, I know that youth dismiss the lame
A wizened tortoise charms not the gazelle
I seek not possession, nor to tame
But rather, like a tortoise in his shell

[Hata Bildir]
