i don't know why i can't lose weight
i really don't eat that much.
just my fruits and veggies,
and eggs and meats and such.

She Needs More

platform shoes and mini skirt,
ponytail and a cutoff shirt;
false eyelashes and hot pink lips,
and ten hot pink finger tips.

strutting and prancing, out on the floor,
all eyes are on her, but she wants more.
no one man will ever succeed
in taming this vixen and filling her needs.

under pink lips and false eyelashes,
she's hiding from memories that come in flashes.
memories of pain and leering faces,
smokey breath and hard embraces.

calloused hands smothering screams;
daddy's laughter shattering dreams.
memories of daddy counting his money;
stroking her hair and calling her honey.

knowing that there would be no escape;
daddy never did call this rape.
just good business, that's all it was;
and she wasn't allowed to make a fuss.

so, now she dances to hide the pain;
trying hard to feel clean again.
dancing and spinning, out of control;
hoping to heal her battered soul.

strutting and prancing across the floor.
all eyes are on her, but she needs more.
what she seeks is a loving father,
but none of these eyes are seeing a daughter.

so, she'll go home alone tonight
and she'll awake in the morning light.
she'll go to school and spend the day,
pretending everything's okay.

but, at the end of the day, when the sun goes down,
she'll get all dressed up for another round.
she'll strut and she'll dance out on the floor.
all eyes will be on her; but she needs SO much more.
