Joseph Cross Poems

To a girl with a heart of gold,
From a boy with a heart of stone.
I know you may think little of me,
And of my life you know even less,
...

Memories like shattered mirrors lying on the floor,
I can't seem to make it in this empty house any more,
My sanity is leaving as the days are passing by,
And all this time alone has always kept me wondering why.
...

I''m in love and I don't know why,
In love with someone who doesn't love me.
Not in that way at least.
She will never love me that way.
...

A rose and a thorn,
Together are born.
One in beauty,
The other in scorn.
...

5.

I once looked on her,
With blinded gaze.
Tortured by beauty,
And fearful from love.
...

Could it be that we in life do not see,
That roller coaster on which we ride?
And yet, at times such as these,
We feel the track peak,
...

Within these veins, flows blood so pure, yet I still feel so insecure.
Beyond the land, beyond the sea, there is no way I could be free.
I try to find my own way out, But that isn’t what my life is about.
It’s here for love, faith, and trust, not searching through nails, broken glass, and rust.
...

Slowly turning on a dime,
Rushing madly through space and time.
Falling through water, walking on air,
This is my life and my despair.
...

Beyond the veil, there is a land
Of naught but pain and sorrow,
Filled with all the loved ones lost,
Their hearts and spirits borrowed.
...

The love that I felt in so many ways,
The talks that we shared for so many days,
The feelings I had are no longer in place,
They are withered and wasted away.
...

11.

Raven, raven black as night,
It darkens my doorstep and the corners of my heart,
Opal feathers spread amongst the coals of a dying fire.
One shining eye in the back of my mind,
...

Quietly creeping, I stole away,
Into the darkness of my heart.
I took but a book, blank as my face,
And pen to write my thoughts.
...

One by one, they stand alone,
Pleading their case before Queen and court.
Judgement is given, but not announced,
Until the trials are done.
...

Twas one year ago
More or less by a day
I stepped in through the door.
...

Ancient creature as strong as Earth and Time,
What gave thy strength to stand through ages past?
Didst thou stand without conviction of crime,
Or at thy brilliant sight did death fade fast?
...

Pale, grinning faces of the men so tall,
Hiding in darkness behind prison bars,
Little time shall pass before you will fall,
And so, in the night you pray to the stars.
...

An object that initially seems,
Simplistic in design,
Yet it is complex underneath.
We see nothing,
...

My broken heart bleeds like the ink
From my leaking fountain pen.
The droplets scattered across the page,
In a sea of black and white
...

I hear them, their smug laughter filling Ford’s Theater.
No excuse, in my opinion, for a bunch of over appreciated, high and mighty northerners, far too good to assist anyone daring enough to associate themselves with the South!
...

Joy is a statue, crafted in marble.
I see her sinking into time's sands.
Her expression is calm, yet slightly puzzled,
Her eyes blinded with lust for life.

Joseph Cross Biography

To describe Me is to describe insanity, for most of my poetry is based on that theme, which coincidentally was never my original intention. Allow me to simply say that chaos is the key to interesting life. Boredom is overrated, and so I surround myself with interesting people, the ones I can relate to, to find inspiration. Religion also plays a very influential part in my lifestyle.)

Betrayal

To a girl with a heart of gold,
From a boy with a heart of stone.
I know you may think little of me,
And of my life you know even less,
But if I don't finally tell you,
My heart will never rest.
My love for you is as pure,
As the snow on a winter morn,
And when I got to know you,
My spirit was reborn.
Although this letter is from my heart,
And truly is sincere,
It is tearing me apart,
And feeding an unseen fear.
For if you look within my mind,
Surely you will see,
That the letter you are reading,
Is a betrayal to my trust in me.
