AROUND THE FIRE

Sat around the fire on many a winter's night
Many a loving family while ambers glowing bright
...

Why Couldn't they See

My wife arrived she brought it home
She read to me this lovely sad poem
...

Coalmine The Pit

My dad was one I remember him well
He was so strong yes anyone could tell
...

For her it's been a sad few year's
I know for him she cried her tears
When she speaks to say his name
She's always quiet her voice so tame
...

I never thought it would ever end
Willie now dead my brother my friend
I'll never forget time and the date
Early that evening it wasn't so late
...

Her Irish blood flowed within her veins
She and Husband Charles walked in separate lane's
He had craved another she was left alone
In her lonely silence stronger had she grown
...

Breadbin now is empty hole inside his pocket
Glearing out his window tearing his racehorse docket
What is he to do where is he too go
Wife inside her bed life's now hard you know
...

Too Young To Understand

Josh is only six too young to understand
Lying there in hospital Mammy takes his hand
...

Went away on holiday up to Scotland bound
Gretna green the venue shortly we had found
Don your suit husband she did order me
Why that my love later you will see
...

It's now twenty twelve time has passed us by
But we're still together I'm a lucky guy
I was thirty two when first we met
Your a beautiful woman how lucky could I get

Around The Fire

AROUND THE FIRE

Sat around the fire on many a winter's night
Many a loving family while ambers glowing bright
This before the telly's when talking was the norm
When outside gales were blowing they cosy from the storm

When children sat transfixed while many a story told
Hush was in the room the children never bold
With coco cups in hand now baby fast asleep
Mammy has been busy too baby counting sheep

In the last millennium like half ways back in that
Families stayed at home in best chair daddy sat
Him the story teller a new one every night
This while shadows moved shivering by candle light

Them days now long forgotten no more dad's stories told
Telly's went and spoilt that their rubbish now unfold
If time it would reverse just let this age admire
How it was back than happy families around the fire
