Kay Francis Poems

The one good thing about our good-bye
is knowing there will be another hello.
I can close my eyes and remember
your deep sigh,
...

Loathing tomorrow,
Your expected departure
Cuts me to the quick
Survival is uncertain
...

On metallic wings of hope,
violent noise propels man
through clouds of faith,
through the troposphere
...

I placed an imaginary rainbow
in the sky for you today.
I hope you pretended to see it
from your airplane window.
...

It feels
surreal
each time I remember
our first kiss so tender,
...

The braided trinity of us
rests like a silky, ebony plait
across the breast of
Mother Earth.
...

Go to the forest; sate your present need,
If on perfect love, you care not to feed.
Spend your nights under wintry-black skies
If less comfort is found where true love lies.
...

Pungent fresh-pine scented breezes
Slither between boughs of cedar,
Leaving frigid kisses to ride
Fragrant laurel chilled by winter
...

Standing tall, always reaching towards God
you are firmly planted
in the rough, rocky soil of my life.
You wrap me in your winter warmth
...

The sand of your spent day
trickles through
the thin chambers of time
and lies waiting for me
...

Observing the world
around me today,
I realize our love
is in its fourth season.
...

Take a walk with me
into the forest at twilight
Drape your arm around
my withering shoulders
...

Nine thousand miles
and twelve hours
separate us
without exaggeration
...

A recent trip to the emergency room
set me back fifteen hundred dollars
and then some.
How I bitched and moaned about
...

We found the Painted Lady in repose,
lying on a blanket of floral lace,
her Chagall-like wings spread wide,
lifelessly still, waiting for him to descend
...

At the end of a meandering path
skirting the garden,
faries skinny-dip in private.
Levitating above a vine
...

Under a Marlow half-moon,
modern-masters met
to drink, eat, and revise
in search of permanent perfectiion.

The Good In Good-Bye

The one good thing about our good-bye
is knowing there will be another hello.
I can close my eyes and remember
your deep sigh,
my skipped heart-beat,
the anticipation of your touch,
and these delicious memories
allow me to bear the agony
of waiting for another coveted moment
when some door will open
and you'll stand before me
wearing your little boy smile,
the one I call mine.

You'll reach out for me
and I will glide into your arms,
reveling in how good you feel,
taking delight in
the way you whisper my name
and how your body leaves no doubt
you want me.
Then your blue eyes will search
for the green lights in mine as
you bow your head
while I lift my chin
so our lips can touch
and the passion within us
can blend again.

With each new rendezvous,
we'll rediscover
the flavors of love on our skin
and together,
our ecstasy will burst,
again and again
releasing pent up needs -
desire we've held at bay,
all the days that pass between
our last good-bye
and the hello of another day.
