How often I've told the moon about you,
Secrets that only he understands,
I've shown him the flowers you picked for me,
But tonight I come with empty hands

Why does love keep tormenting us,
Why can't it just leave us alone!
Yet, when it comes calling, how we fuss,
Though its fickle ways are well-known

Ask, if you will, for my hand to hold
When Life's darkest storms give you a fright;
And no, I will not think you too bold
Should you ask me to stay through the night
...

Are you still recalling that dispute
You had long ago with a loved one?
It's time unkind words were rendered mute,
Let go of the reins, and let them run
...

Few stop at my door to visit,
It may be the darkness that they fear;
Through the open windows my voice resounds,
Are they startled by what they hear?
...

The sun rose, its duties to uphold
In its usual, most resplendent manner,
Spreading glorious rays of orange and gold -
Proud it rose, wildly waving its banner;
...

When doubt and fear attack my heart
My world adopts a somber hue,
As the battle rages, I panic,
But then I find my peace in you
...

At daybreak I awoke alone
With a sadness I could not quell,
Without a love to call my own,
And now, morning's waving farewell
...

Has God shown you a bit of mercy
When you humbly beg and plead?
