I suddenly became electric,  transfixed by the music,  
They danced around fire and hollered in verse,
It was an orchestra of the soul,
A raw howl from the devil's wicked jaws,

The people drank from bottles,
Bottles laced with carnage, and snorted lines of bereavement.
They huffed bags of hope, and injected needles full of meek desire.
They licked dreams and smoked freedom, they were the lost generation.

Sun blasted bags, throned on leather carcasses hold up the withered mirrors of heaven,
Contoured, wrapped and sagged around gaunt cheeks,
Ashamed, abused and bleached by fire,
Etched, torn, worn and scabbed,
