but the wisdom of choice—the ability to discern
right from wrong on absolute terms and comprehend

Things that we prey on with straying feet
And consume with an intemperate appetite,
Rob us of place and peace;
Reducing us much lower than apes

The honor of bulls isn't in their horns or their skin colors
But in their strength, their frame, and diverse usefulness.
The ability to sire better calves, be gentle with others,
meet demands other than meat and still with a fearless face,

The ground quakes. The wind blows.
The sun scorches. The skies are gray.
Friends are far. Foes are near.
The heart is weary. But am still trusting.

Precious but rare is a good companion
in an evil and competitive world.
Many are befriended whose interest
isn't to build, but to outdo each other.

The change we desire and all we'll ever see
Is ever one man away - Just one man away.
One man who knows the right way
And wills to lead others that way.
