036. The Final Injury Poem by Jaden Knight

036. The Final Injury

Rating: 5.0

I sit on a lonely cliff top
listening to the sea
searching my injured mind
for the peace it once contained

Peace is no longer part of me
you forced it out of my life
confusion took its place
now I can only feel pain

Anger flows through me
a fire burns in my chest
hatred grows in my mind once more
forming new fury

I don’t want to hate any more
but it seems I have no choice
I can’t disguise the pain I feel
my mind is scarred
the injury will never heal

A storm forms above me
the wind begins to howl
I rise to my feet
as thunder crashes around me
the sea transforms
the waves lashing at the cliff face
reaching up to take me
to drown out all my trouble with eternal slumber

Lightning strikes behind me
a section of the cliff collapses
taking me down towards the sea
my eyes still alight with fury
the thunder rumbles around me
drowning out my final yell
as I hit the rocks below

The water claims my broken body
but it cannot take my soul
as I rise up from the rocks
my body disappears beneath the waves
never to return
