2005/02 Closeness

I love you
are the words whispered in your ear
from lips you've never kissed
a smell you've never desired
a touch that has never tickled your skin
But they ring loud
in the ears of yours
and those of whom I do not know
carried out to the sea
across to lands where love is a religion
Love is practiced carefully in my world
Defenders of the heart serve in my army
They fight and yet heal more each day
because thats how my love for you grows
They fight in your name
because you are the ruler of my heart
you and I will conquer our fears, our dreams
The rest of the world can wait for tomorrow
because I've got to spend time with you today
and I don't want life to pass me by
all because i spent it worrying about the small things
instead of the beauty that lives inside of you
Please, continue to amaze me with your whole being
and I'll love you with all my heart

Lovely poem. I can relate to such love, a love that as of yet has not been reciprocated. And sometimes people scoff and say, 'How can you say you love, when the focus of your affection has not even been tested? ' Ahh, but I did not say I loved blindly. It only appears that way to others.
