231. Your Land Poem by Jaden Knight

231. Your Land

I will no longer build on your land
now I know that it is prone to tremors
better to leave the buildings unfinished
than to lose my people to a mega quake

When you offered the country I was most impressed
at how wonderful it all looked
but after only a couple of weeks
the ground started shaking softly

At first I thought it was a one off
but several quakes occurred in a month
and though not huge on the richter scale
I decided to abandon the land
to search for a safer country

Your fields now lie deserted
not even a trace of any building remains
until the next idiot will try to build there
and risks letting his people go to ruin
