When they got together he built a house
for both of them to live in peace and love
so much time and effort he put in to it
and yet she still was not satisfied
The bricks were finest sapphires
picked to match her eyes
mortar gold just like her hair
windows were flawless diamonds
as clear as her tears
with a roof of emeralds
her favourite colour
The interior walls were marble
just like the colour of her skin on a good day
floors were carpeted with rubies
just like her best lipstick
the fittings were silver and platinum
just like the glasses she wore
For some reason she didn't like it
and left very soon after
the lesson he learnt was simple
unlimited wealth has its limits
it could not buy him the true love he sought
