.4. Little Tax Havens Poem by David Threadgold

.4. Little Tax Havens

Can you find the reason?
For why we must pay tax
To pay for things we never see
With services so lax

We pay to have a police force
They work some funny hours
And when you ring to ask for help
It’s more like fawlty towers

They won’t turn out for burglaries
Unless your life’s in danger
But most thieves don’t look friendly
How could you ask a stranger?

They now have many stations
In use for part time hours
Just the place for tea breaks
Or to shelter from the showers
