.5. Could We Poem by David Threadgold

.5. Could We

Could we make an apple taste of pear
Or an orange taste of plum
Could we make a port wine taste of beer?
Or a vodka taste of rum

Could we make a pork pie taste of cheese?
Or an ice cream taste of ham
Could we make a sausage taste of milk?
Or a jelly taste of Spam

Could we make an onion taste of greens?
Or a stuffing taste of toffee
Could we make a custard taste of sprout?
Or a tea that tastes of coffee

Could we make a jam tart taste of beans?
Or a Swiss roll taste of Swede
Could we make a pastry taste of grapes?
Or a radish taste of mead

Could we make our taste buds so confused?
That we can’t tell water from curry
Could we make my legs move faster now?
As I may just need to hurry
