5 Years Old, Again Poem by Kewayne Wadley

5 Years Old, Again

Like most 5 year olds
I sat down with nothing to do
& Thought about you.
I reached into my backpack and
grabbed some paper and my crayons.
A bit of electric blue and summertime
yellow scraped across the paper.
Sharp tips now broken & dull, pieces of
white peeking through neon blue.
Whenever you're around I get like this.
I hail in comparison to how big
you become.
With your squiggly lines for hair & both
feet turned the same way.
It never matters where we go, you
always seem to follow me with the
biggest smile.
It never matters where we end up, I
always imagine you on the passenger
side of all my matchbox cars from
Mattel,
Sometimes we drive under water.
Ignoring grown up physics and flying
through the air, even driving on walls.
It always amazes me how we never
seemed to crash.
Whenever you're around I get like this.
It feels like I am 5 years old again &
we both have to be in the house when
the street lights come on.
Maybe tomorrow I'll show you my
favorite Teenage Ninja Turtle?
If I am able to still come outside and
play.
If not I'll come over and ring the
doorbell next time I am able to come out

Beautiful poem of love. And an endearing pic. When we are in love, yes, we turn into five-year olds. And, " Whenever you're around I get like this. It feels like I am 5 years old again" Excellent.
