A - B - C Poem by Charlotte Peters Rock

A - B - C

That in one afternoon
Decades later than
A - B - C

We have still
an understanding
Of its import
A - B - C

In writing or
In reading this
The proof is set
A - B - C

That when we struggled
In mornings and
In afternoons to learn
A simple story
A - B - C

Those lessons tucked
Inside our whispering heads
Have stood the test of time
A - B - C

And where our teachers
Gone before - along their way
Have not been seen these many years
A - B - C

Yet still they visit us
In minutes of our need
To bring a warmth of understanding
A - B - C

And with their effort and our own
No obstacle can pin us down
If we can read and understand
A - B - C

For we have learned to sail teh world
To be unfettered by our mind
Which can by reading set us free
A - B - C

There is no finer gift to give
No education more worthwhile
Than is this pivotal release
A - B - C...................
