A Boy Needs His Mommy Poem by Hm. Nes

A Boy Needs His Mommy

Today I was needing my mommy,
But she was nowhere to be found.
I cried, but she didn't come to me;
So, I tried not making a sound.

Being quiet didn't work, so I screamed,
Screamed louder than ever before;
Then, I screamed with my loudest of screams
And sprawled myself out on the floor.

She still didn't come, but I will say
A stranger passed by and inquired:
'What makes today such an awful day? '
I told him, although I felt tired:

'My best friend moved out of town today
'And worse, I woke up feeling sick
'With bills and the rent all needing paid;
'Although, as I said, I am sick.'

The stranger agreed: 'Bad day indeed!
'A day when a boy needs his mom.
'But you're no boy, ' he said. 'You must be 50! '
And he said it with certain aplomb.
