A Broken Jar Poem by Lora Cooley

A Broken Jar

One last attempt to make sense
What have I been trying to accomplish
Self-made secrecy
Things get cloudy
Get blurry by the minute
I don't know
One last desperate plea
One last laugh
Have I been losing it completely?
Has it been fabricated by the worst of me?
I knocked the table over because I watched the jar break
I've been trying to repair it
But the cracks still show
That moment when it broke
I never let it go
I am throwing all the shards away
Every fragment
