A Child's Swing Poem by Dakota Ellerton

A Child's Swing

When I was young
I'd swing from the tree's
in my swing I'd sway
over and over I would kick off
higher and higher I'd go
that was the closest I got to flying
now that I'm older
I swing a different way
no longer do I use the childs way
of swinging in the tree
I loop my rope
throw it over the branch
and tie it tightly
this is how the adults play
I slip my head in the swing
and kick off once more
this is how I swing now
all day and night
forever I will swing

I found this poem beautiful, though it is depressing. I agree that you can hear achild come out of this poem.
