A Child With No Praise Poem by Colette Dright

A Child With No Praise

A child with no praise causes these kind of days

Your words are often micromanaged
Yet your rants and raves are never challenged
Your brain, thoughts and words are all over the place
Seems to be unbalanced
Your voice you raise cause you never got praise
A pat on the back, you never got that
So desperate for attention, might I care to mention

A man seeking praise, you grew up to be
Not blind to the fact, just didn't care to see
Your actions truly display and reflect
That you were a child of pain and neglect

Got Damn… You were the outcast of the fam
Never shown real love, just showered with wealth
So for others you never understood how the cards were dealt

Wealthy in the money causes one to grow wild
Probably never had a friend growing up as a child

Never knew how to care, never knew how to share
Your hunger for attention and affection as a child
Turned you into a showboat that lasted longer than a while

All the attention has to be on you only
But deep inside you are miserable and lonely

Four years in this circus capade
Never taking account for the mistakes you made
Never yo fault, you don't take the blame
Always someone else, so you claim
There are times you are confusional and other times delusional

You wasn't prepared for the job and everyone know
When you start talking, the lies just grow
A whole story of exaggeration led by your wild imagination
This is not a gimmick, but a deadly pandemic
Over a hundred thousand people dead in their grave
Tired of all your rants and raves
The whole four years you've been so bitter
Spending nights lashing out on Twitter

A man seeking praise, you grew up to be
Yet you never understood the country's tears of thee
Bitterness and criticism
Degrading, disrespect, name calling truly reflects
The years of hate and harbored hurt
To the black and brown you treat like dirt
Injustice, racism, political corruption
None of this should be taken as funny
Cheeks are turned, voices silent
All for the greed and the love of money
People around you are totally weak
They see what's going on, but are scared to speak
Don't wanna lose they job, cause they know you good at firing
So they settle for the disrespect cause no one else is hiring

Wow how this country is deep in a pit
Defeat is near, the question is, can you handle it?

A child with no praise grew to be an old man still yearning praise

Parents hug your children, encourage them
Show them love and praise
So when they grow up we can thank God
We won't have these kind of days

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Just an insight view of how the lack of praise, compliments, love and encouragement can hinder a child and affect their adulthood.
Also, shining awareness on privilege, racism, greed and things that are done and not done all for the love of money.
Praying for world healing, world peace, world love, world equality and justice for ALL.
