A Dysfunctional Pair Poem by Francis Duggan

A Dysfunctional Pair

Rating: 1.5

It started from a trivial disagreement but from there it did escalate
And now they are constantly quarrelling each other they have grown to hate
Their one offspring in her early twenties she lives and works in a town far away
With her mum and dad always arguing at home she did not wish to stay
Between them the insults are flying when he comes home from work every day
Words such as love or dear are never used when to each other they have something to say
They often walked hand in hand on the main street but that was a long time ago
Nowadays things between them are different and apart from each other they do grow
Out of love but living under the one roof they have become a dysfunctional pair
In their living room even when watching the t v there's tension between them in the air
Yet they cannot seem to live without each other do not ask me why this should be
This is your question for a psychologist some human behaviours are way beyond me
Sometimes they are not on speaking terms and other times at each other they shout
'Twould seem they should not be living together but with each other they cannot live without.
