A Far Country Poem by David Harris

A Far Country

Our dreams and wishes
lie in a far country.
North, south, east and west,
far beyond our gaze.

In that far country
we hope to one day travel,
capturing our dreams and wishes
to bring us better days.

Though they are inviable
when we look towards the sun,
in reality our dreams and wishes
are always within our grasp.

We miss them all the time
because we think they are too far away,
but if we really want them
they are within our grasp.

Not in a far country
half a world away.
They are here with us
each and every day.

We must open our mind
to see the far country
where we want to be.
As the far country is in ourselves.

A great poem and a great lesson to all those who look into the distant horizons to attain peace, prosperity and fulfillment of dreams. I would like to quote the following lines: We must open our mind to see the far country where we want to be. As the far country is in ourselves.
