A Fault In The System Poem by Matthew Holloway

A Fault In The System

I have lost faith with this nation
the politicians, bureaucrats, judicial system
all self serving, afraid to make a stand
in fear of a negative press release
in fear of offending or having an opinion
these figureheads, steering us into an abyss
whilst the engine of this land
the doctors, nurses, teachers, police
fire service, the working man and women
are betrayed, let down and defecated upon
all while the media plays cover up
and tries to distract us away from the truth
the system is failing because of who we elected
those who forget they serve us not themselves
the lords, worthless parasites the lot
unelected to a position of such power
to make laws over the common folk
who they never see nor interact with
how further detached can it get
broken, failing, useless
this is what has become of it
like so many other nations
awaiting a revolution of sorts
for change to happen
