A Hundred Day Goodbye Poem by William McGehee

A Hundred Day Goodbye

It was a hundred days ago
we said this last "good-bye"
Forced once more to part and so
Walk under different skies.
Though, when the world has had it's say
And all the stars aline
Goodbyes will all but pass away
And ours, as well, resign.

But it has lived a hundred days
And it must live through more.
I know it hurts a hundred ways:
a pain we've borne before.
But know I'm sending all my love
From on this foreign shore.
And hold within your heart, m'love
Strength we forge forevermore.
