A Kid Destined To Suffer! Poem by Vadakkumpurath Ramesan

A Kid Destined To Suffer!

He was late but running
To reach the class
Where he stood like lifeless
Before the scolding teacher!
He was bright and brilliant
But brought nothing to eat!
He took water at mid-day
And attended class
With sharp brain and eyes
And did the exemplary!
He came late
The teacher quizzed
But wept and cried!
He do the errants
For the meals of his family
Of father laid-up
The mother sick
The siblings playing!
One day he told the teacher
That he want leave
To shift home
To a rented one
As the one he had
Was snatched by creditors!
He never returned
But was toiling hard
With no pause
And was shouldering
To maintain a family!
He was denied the light of word
He was denied a square meal
He was denied even a sleep
The nature's balm
A kid like him is deserved!
He has no pomp and glory
Of his mates in the class
He was allured
Not by the splendid decor of life
But by the hunger and suffering
Of the parents and siblings!
His look breed pain,
Agony, throb the heart
Of the good Samaritans!
