A Lifeless Plain Poem by Daya Nandan

A Lifeless Plain

The scorching heat that burns my skin,
The severe dehydration that drains me from within,
The urge for water to quench my thirst,
An honest prayer before i face the worst,

The lifeless and barren plain roasts my feet,
Just waiting for death and chaos to meet,
The raging wind blows torrid sand,
As i feel weakness in each leg and hand,

The nights on the other hand are too cold to bare,
Freezing alone while breathing dry air,
I feel such pain and weakness in each joint,
As the temperatures fall beyond freezing point,

Such torture and pain it is to be alone,
Longing for happiness and a place to call home,
This poem is not about being lost in a desert under the sky of blue,
It is just me describing how i feel living a day without you.
