A Man Must Know His Art Poem by Daya Nandan

A man must know his art in order to understand,
The hidden strengths that course within each mighty hand,
A curiosity must be sparked before the birth of talent and skill,
Only then can he discover a truly unique and passionate thrill,

A man must go on a journey far beyond the comfort zone he knows,
Opposing the direction the wind of familiarity and laziness blows,
Through the vast horizons of great lands and his mind within,
To discover his true self, a self that lies beyond his outer skin,

A man has to find himself to locate and understand his true art,
Then lose himself in it, His mind's passion connected to his heart,
And in isolation he shall discover a whole world he has never seen,
A driving force of passion that will lead him to places he has never been,

A man must know himself to truly master the art that drives him,
Never letting the flames of passion within ever burn dim,
Ready to correct the mistakes he makes that hold him down,
Ready to learn from them and make them steps towards his crown,

A man must be courageous, devoted and persistent to reach success,
And also patient, calm, humble and able to cope with perils of stress,
A man must embrace the bright flames of passion burning within his heart,
A man must strive for perfection and satisfaction, a man must know his art.
