A Plead To Mother Earth Poem by Azeez Ogundiran

A Plead To Mother Earth

Rating: 5.0

Dear mother earth,
forgive our sins,
We have erred against you
We have forgotten your gifts-air, water and land
In our drive for economic development
To achieve technological advancement
We have forgotten that who feed us
We dump our wastes anyhow
Burn our waste everywhere
Release our effluent and plastics into your oceans
We have been so selfish
We revel in our shortsightedness
Pursuing our earthly goals
Forgetting the essentials of our existence
Forgive us, mother earth
For we have realized our error Now we know; The air is important
That water is life
The land is sustenance
Now we care about you
The scorching heat is unbearable
The erratic raining pattern is unsuitable
Our beaches are unattractive
Our sustenance in oceans is decreasing
Our biodiversity is threatened
Our planet is in danger
Climate change is at our doorstep
Forgive us, mother earth
Now we care, now we will reuse, reduce and recycle
To protect our environment
To safeguard our earth
So that posterity will be kind to us
As you have been there for us
Thoughout our ignorant days
