A Poor Man's Moody Blues Poem by jimmy zepp

A Poor Man's Moody Blues

Remember when you were an offspring and young,
Shone like a diamond in all those who were among?
Being your great father’s lovely only son,
You shined brightly like the morning sun,
And when you reached to the secret too soon,
Oh now it seems you are crying for the moon,
Was that the one and only world you had?
For now you look where to hide your head?
Lost between passion and pain,
Crying out all over in the rain,
For now there isn’t any helping gentle hand,
You chose that destiny it was on your demand,
To be a man with many broken dreams,
Where you must strive with all means,
To keep that show going along,
On the way of life which is long,
Too many tears still to come later,
You must face all once you’re older,
Until the final curtains fall upon your eyes,
Then you’ll find out everything and realize,
You were only a traveler through the time,
Did your best to keep its meaning in rhyme,
Women and whisky were never your aim,
You got into it knowing it ends in shame,
For you might lose your name and fame,
All will end leaving behind a burning fire’s flame.
You can never escape it no matter what you claim,
So that you enter Heaven through its golden gates,
If only our Lord listens to your pitiful debates,
Well keep wishing you’ll go there where angels do live,
If only your own heart got in love that hope to believe,
For the book of life which seems long ends up so brief,
Redemption of your soul could be your only relief,
Soon you’ll find how the final page is reached and read,
It was just a fantasy to find that all but love was dead,
This is my philosophy and my great and certain belief…

To all those who are and were my friends, from now, till the end of time…
