A Reader’s Daydream Poem by David Harris

A Reader’s Daydream

Rating: 4.4

In books written by scholars
With an element enforced on words
You read with your subconscious
And digest all you’ve heard
Your mind suggest a vision of what immortal life could be
As you wish is silent whisper that your life this way could lead
Then back to reality you frown
As you stumble over words the author has written down.

I like this piece because sometime I try and use the bigger words but it's just not me. They're hard to understand. That's just me I guess. I rather fancy the dime store words. Won't win any prizes but I have fun: O)

Brilliant poem David. I love the way you describe the familiar feeling of sinking deeper into a particularly enthralling story and then tripping over a simple phrase and jolting back into reality. Well done! ! ! ! ! Steffi xxxxx

Immortal life - and the differing interpretations open to the subconscious mind - is massively seductive at times. Dream v reality is an ongoing war, and reality is a pretty hard taskmaster at times. A wee escape now and again sometimes helps us to cope. Thought provoking stuff David. Your words had me drifting off down that road too! ! I enjoyed this. jim
