A Reminder Poem by Matt Mooney

A Reminder

Curtains drawn back
day begins
uncertain of itself
clouds overhanging
mountains emerge
out of a shroud
helped by the sun
a bar of brightness.

Golden yet
search lighting
from the sea to me
scanning widely
showing up a tree
bared by some storm
beaten into a cross:
a reminder of Calvary.
