A Simple Man Poem by Michael P. Johnson

A Simple Man

A SIMPLE MAN
God as a simple child was born
The boy of flesh grew tall
A shameful sinful world to warn
Against her selfish fall

Did they hear, did someone see
Did anyone repent?
Turning, thanking for setting free
Through whom The Father sent

Only a few a precious few
Only a few saw when
God's precious Son in wisdom grew
Into a man back then

A God tormented God of woe
Mortal as you and I
Throughout His life would live to show
The reason He came to die

He saw man's thoughts man's wilful heart
His lustful selfish ways
To give mankind a brand new start
His actions would amaze

As Christ as Lamb as sinless man
For all the world to see
Fulfilling Heaven's awesome plan
To set God's children free

Children of shame victims of sin
Full doubt selfish with pride
Offering self that He may win
Repenting souls to guide

Through beatings again and again
Obedient straight and true
Suffering death tremendous pain
As man for me and you.....
