A Simple Question Poem by Lyf Burns

A Simple Question

A simple question
I couldn't ask you in public
A simple way of doing it
Cowardly, but stupid....

So I asked you
And your answer
It pained me.
Ripped me to pieces....

I know I shouldn't ask you
While with another
But my heart of holes
Yearns powerfully
For an answer.

I know what I
With my heart of holes
Would have said
And your answer didn't fit.

But do not fret
Do not fear, my dear.
I shall live on
To ask you
Once more.
