A Slight Refrain Poem by Mustafa Marconi

A Slight Refrain

I rather be secluded in silence
In the peacefulness of self
Come and go as the spirit please
Without mindless inquiries
Based on suspicion and insecurities
Far be it for me
To anticipate in my own sanctuary
A slight refrain from undue resistance
Undermining tranquility and meditation
The genuine nature of my essence
Struggles mightily to comprehend
The insanity of your reason
Nudging me ever so close
Toward popular statistics
And stereotypical conjecture
Are you truly so discontented
When a second ago
You seemed so joyful and happy
This roller coaster ride of emotions
Constantly crashing into my serenity
Upsetting the fragile fabric of our union
Pardon my frustrations
But what can I do
I am your rock! ! !
And here you are once again
Hugging me and smiling
As if this spiritual nightmare
Was just a mirage
