I thought it wouldn't be this hard
So hard to say goodbye
I never thought I'd be this numb
I never thought I'd cry

I didn't think he'd leave this way
How fast the time has flown
I have so much to say to him
Some feelings I've never shown

I need to say I love him
and thank him for that day
I want to tell him everything
but wonder what he'd say

A day ago he was mine
My older brother James
My savior, protector and honest friend
but now that all might change

He's going away to Georgia maybe Texas if need be
But the army doesn't care
How much he means to me

I'll miss him with all my heart
And pray to God he's safe
For coming home in a box
Is the one sight I can't take
