A Thespian's Love Affair
It is there within the confines of her grace
that I find my comfort
drawn to her as I am
I heard the unspoken call
the one that claims so many in her beckomi8ng whisper
I am healed from all angst and shielded from all pain
for I am transported by her
to a place where there is nothing but the essence of my art
I fondly recall the words of the scripted authors
and breathe my own breath of life into them
leaving the signature of my individual craft
I become the character created
not an imitation of the words
but a reflection of my own being
as seen thorough the eyes of another
and it is to thee I pledge my heart
upon her herald platform I prance, I dance,
and I nimbly move in front of the shadows of the audience
a thousand eyes upon me
though their face3s a rarely seen
I become anger, love, torment, hope, and regret
a myriad of emotions displayed
like the hues of the kaleidoscope seeping from my core
and poured forth in the performance at hand
late at night when all have gone
I return to her in my stoic solace
and wade gratefully upon the waters of her empty stage
and say a prayer of silent thanks that I found her
in a bond that shall never sever
as long as I able to become a part of her
she is all I need
all I bleed
all I read
as I am held in her eternal gaze
and twirl in the crystal of her expanding eye
from the moment of my first recited line
the initial tingle down my spine behind her curtain
the images seen and rehearsed in my mind
and I am certain I shall never leave her
for she is my love
and I her noble mate deemed by fate
for she is the theater
and I could never love another
as I humbly take my final bow for the evening
and exit from her stage left
