A Toast For The Unknown Poem by Mae Ethan

A Toast For The Unknown

A Toast for the Unknown

We were once lovers in a very short span of time
Shared three nights together and it felt so sublime
And as I recall those times with you
I still pray we could share another night or two…

Love until you are hurt no more, says a nun
To enjoy a great love you have to endure the pain, says everyone
And I tried to follow the above
Only to find out I lost my love…

Now here I am alone and in deep pain
Wondering when will I be okay again
I know that someday, somehow, somewhere
My real Prince will come to meet me there…

And since it is your happiness I want foremost
I’ll pray to the Lord our God for your loving Princess too!
And should one day our paths will cross
The smile that is hidden in my heart will surely show for you…

Only then will you come to realize
That the love I have for you will never die
You will always remain a special part of me
Engraved in my heart, deep in my soul, forever in my memory…
