A Touch Of Ginger (Hedychium Assam Orange) from South Africa

These flowers were such a surprise
sitting astride every stout sheaved leaf
coloured orange to complete this disguise
of this exciting before after dinner aperitif.

with just a touch of ginger on the tongue
to add a hint of spice to the meal
from fields and places so far flung
where people labour, without a fair deal.

The land you were born is free of her chains
but struggles to feed and clothe her flock
and even following countless campaigns
separate colours and creeds don't interlock.

With you as their patron, or even their flag
I would definitely support that motion
you would be as popular as a tea bag
now that could cause a commotion.
