A Tribute Poem by Shiloh Thompson

A Tribute

A small faerie made of white porcelain,
Blowing petals from her extended hand,
Warmed by the light of a single candle,
Its core flickering in its death throes,
The red wax drowning the flame,
So much like the lies drowned us.

Dried flowers reminding of happier times,
Where smiles and laughter reigned,
Now dead and whitered and colorless,
Crumbling at the lightest brush of a hand,
The wind blowing away the resulting dust,
Much like what remains of our hearts.

So here is to what is left of our relationship,
The withered flowers and frozen statue,
Paying tribute to what might have been,
But now only remains in faded memories,
Two hearts that burned up their love,
Leaving nothing behind to salvage.
