Face to face with one of Nature's wonders
That looked like a flower,
‘Lily', simply said one of the gardeners
Looking at my pointed finger,
Precise to the point and perfect,
He uttered a matter of fact.
.
Not quite content was a man of science
To whom flowers were like things so many
Which we simply call Botany,
Appalled was he at public ignorance
Of Hexandria Monogymia genus,
Brilliant but still so much fuss!
Ah beauty, this lotus family,
My lost dreams' sole serendipity,
Of thousand petals each so bright,
I marvel at her majestic splendour
That smiles, the moon when rules the night,
And close again at morning hour.
Lily was lily, white or blue,
To him, innocent like dawn's dew,
Not to one that more of it knew,
Each with his own window of view,
Some said so with heart, some in part,
A poet painted with his art.
Say how so ye please, whatso name,
But beauty spells ever the same.

Thanks for reading this old poem, and for lovely comments.
If only there's not so much fuss around,
This world would be no puss-infested wound. (Report) Reply

To enjoy any flower, we needn't know its name or family! The flower in itself is a thing of beauty and if I borrow Keats' famous line " A thing of beauty is a joy forever"! Lovely penning! (Report) Reply
