#a Wish That Couln'T Be Granted... - Poem by Mamta Agarwal

Joyous and ecstatic,
On the banks of
Mother Ganges,
I didn’t want to look
Over my shoulder,
And wished time
Could stand still,

And with the imprint
Of that moment,
I could just die…
But that is not in
The scheme of things…

For I knew better,
Pain waited in the aisle
With a benign smile…
