A Wishful Feast Poem by Matthew Holloway

A Wishful Feast

Let de dine and drink on love
Let me feast upon all such sweetness
The nectar of passion unbowed
A pallet of the muse and imaging's
That all such beauty is bestowed
Upon the table before us
Like a dream seeping out into life
Like a dream becoming known
A realised ambition of the heart
Beating into a now heard rhythm
That all this is and may ever be
Each unasked question often left
Every answer the one always desired
That fear and doubt cast aside
No place exists upon this table
For such poisonous flavours
Let me dine on inspiration
Kindness, love, laughter
Let me drink in beauty and joy
Let this table be filled with all
That any heart may desire
Let me taste it, your lips, soul, beauty
Your passion, inspiration, hands
A heart shaped bowl, cracked
Sits upon an empty table
