A57 Love Like I'Ve Never Been Hurt Poem by Bill Smith

A57 Love Like I'Ve Never Been Hurt

Rating: 4.5

I want to love like I’ve never been lonely, love like I’ve never been hurt
Feel it’s the first time I’ve kissed, rip off this itchy hair shirt
See all the colours of the rainbow, tread on crisp virgin white snow
Love like I’ve never been lonely, let these old heartstrings go

Lie under star filled skies in the moonlight, feel the warmth of a late summer sun
Fly slow and calm like the Heron, control emotions that cause me to run
Love like I’ve never been hurt, find a quiet peace in my mind
Take one careful step at a time, have faith that love isn’t blind

Break binds from the past that hold me, dance in Fred Astaire’s shoes
I want to love like I’ve never been hurt, for once I don’t want to lose
I want to love like I’ve never been lonely, feel a shiver from the slightest touch
I want to be someone’s all in all, is that really asking too much?

I want rid of the sleep of the restless, crave calm waters at night
Can I bury the maybe’s deep underground, leaving me fit for the fight
I want to love like I’ve never been lonely, cry no more self pitying tears
I want to love like I’ve never been hurt, abandoning all of my fears
