Absence Versus Clarity Poem by Brijaal Dana

Absence Versus Clarity

They say 'absence makes the heart grow fonder'.

She's truly the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. She is wrong for me.
She has given me strength I never knew I had. Why does she make me so very sad.
I feel as though, maybe I'm holding on to a hollow dream. She hurts me to the point of wanting to scream.
She's always been my sunshine, even through the rain. I can't figure out why it is to love her, is to pain.
I thought in her absence I would become fonder. Is it true love or not is what I ponder.
I think of her all day well, at least three times. It makes me wonder if I'll just lose my mind.
Never have I ever wanted anything so much before. I thought our love would surely endure.
I must ask myself, am I just missing her because she is not here? Or is that finally my mind has become clear? ?
