According To Freud

there are many ways to get a grip on reality
- erasing all our relationships
- conquering nature
- influencing your own organism
- going mad
the only legally and socially accepted approaches, however,
are dreams and art
phantasies
turned to the inside
or to the outside
inside out or outside in
what is common to all of them
is the cruel fact
that there is no way
of accepting reality as it is
because there is no way
of accepting our longings for what they are
however (,) you may twist and turn them

A well-written poem on the theme of 'reality'. I agree with you that accepting reality is a difficult proposition.
