Acheron On The Beach Poem by Michael Pruchnicki

Acheron On The Beach

Rating: 3.0

LST 666 lay offshore gently rocking
port to starboard on incoming waves

perhaps an abandoned merchant ship
that carried cargo and contraband
from Shanghai to Yokohama
before Vietnam flared up

perhaps that was the rumble of artllery
one heard in the distance
coal black sand glittering
in hazy sunlight
dark shrubs
twisted trees
and a rocky road

The shore of Acheron?

Methinks the rating vandals are loose again, but see what they've done to Yeats, Blake, Frost, and that fellow from some commercial place, oh, yeah Seamus Shakespeare, the rake.
