Adam's First Look Poem by Loyd C Taylor Sr

Adam's First Look

Adam had beheld majestic mountains crowned with the golden sunrise.
He had witnessed the outburst of colors as when the horizon it sank low.

Adam had gazed in wonder as countless stars painted the velvet sky.
He had witnessed artistic beauty as far away celestial bodies glow.

Adam had smiled at the unique designs found on butterfly wings.
He had been astounded at the creative genius of so many things.

Adam had seen God's spectacular glory and could only stand in awe.
But now he gazes upon woman, the most glorious creation of all.

Genesis 2: 20 - 24 'Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and he brought her to the man.'

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
About this poem: In the story of God's creating woman in the Book of Genesis, I tried to imagine Adam's reaction when he took his first look at Eve. Picture how tired Adam may have been after naming all the birds and animals. As he drifts off into a deep sleep, he may have trembled thinking about the images he has seen that day. The Rhino, the Gorilla, nats, bats, and crocodiles; surely God would not have one of them as his partner and companion.Soon, God woke Adam. Sleepily, he yawned and rubbed his eyes. Startled, he trembled and jumped back. What was this? God said; " Adam, look, I have a special surprise. Then God presented to Adam the woman that he had made. Wow! What a surprise! I penned these words, which are probably not new or original, but the way I imagined that day.I hope you enjoy it.Loyd, the simple poet
