Adolescence Poem by Phil Ward

Adolescence

My Mother told me when I was ten,
I'd be mature at twelve and then,
Hair would leap out of my chin,
From little pores within my skin,
Then spread around my mouth and cheeks,
And be a full blown beard in weeks,
On my shoulders down my arms,
Between my fingers on my palms,
Down my legs and on my toes,
At least an inch a day it grows,
"Oh Mum" I said, don't be so daft,
I know you're joking, having a laugh?
